Twitter May Be Working on a Subscription Platform

Twitter is working on a new subscription platform. This is according to a new job listing, which has revealed some nuances about the nature of membership. According to, Twitter has named “Gryphon”. The company is building a membership service.

“Gryphon is a team of engineers working closely with the payments, team and the Twitter.com team. We are looking for a full-stack engineer to lead the payment and membership clients to work, someone who collaborates as we do and can act as a bridge to the engineering team.

After this job listing attracted media attention, the company edited the job listing to remove all mentions of its internal team, membership, and Gryphon. Changed description read – Tw is looking for a Software Engineer who works with the bevvy of backend engineering teams to build components that allow for the experiment to deliver the best possible experience to all of our users.

However, Twitter restored the details. The updated listing details Gryphon and the subscription service. It’ll be interesting to see what Twitter has been planned.

It is possible to that company is working to implement the way to monetize its userbase for access to premium content. Unfortunately, it is unclear how this will work. Therefore, we will have to wait until Twiter makes its membership platform.
