MediaTek has sent an invitation for the May 7 event that will bring a new 5G chipset to the world. And since the tagline is “5G all-inclusive”, it will likely be a mid-range offering.
The company already has the Dimension 800 in the mid-range 5G segment as well as the Dimension 1000 and 1000L for more premium phones. So, what could it be?
The Leakster Digital Chat Station mentions an MT6853 chip in the entry-level segment. The marketing name of this chip is unknown, but the dimension is 800 MT6873V. Reportedly, work on Dimension 2000 is proceeding as planned.
A Redmi K30i aims to bring the cost of the 5G to $ 250 and is probably powered by the Dimension 800. The 800 chip is also expected to be used in the Oppo A92s. Until MediaTek reveals something more appropriate next week.
