Here’s Your First Look at Xiaomi’s Mi Band 5

Earlier last week, we came to know that Xiaomi will unveil its next-gen fitness tracker Mi Band 5 in China on June 11. The company only confirmed the name and did not reveal anything about its design or features. Today, however, Xiaomi took us to Weibo for the first look in the Mi Band 5.

Xiaomi took its official Weibo account to share the teaser poster below. This confirms that Mi Band 5 will design the same as its predecessor. A closer look at the poster will tell you that the display will be slightly curved at the edges compared to the Mi Band 4 flats flat design. The circular button below the display has been replaced with the inverted U, first seen on the Mi Band 4 NFC Edition.

The teaser poster sort-off confirms that the Mi Band 5 will be a minor upgrade over the Mi Band 4.

Another minor observation is the new strap design. The solid color straps will soon be accompanied by double-colored straps, with a colored wrist strap (red and yellow as shown below) and a black stripe. It seems more minimal and I would choose the latter on any color band any day.

The poster gives a glimpse at some of the features of the Mi Band 5, including NFC support for payments on the move (Mi Band 4 extended beyond the NFC version), multiple sport modes, women’s health suits (new additions) and pressure Are included. I’m not sure what the pressure refers to, but we’ll learn about it in a few days.

The rumor mill further states that the Mi Band 5 will have a SpO2 sensor to monitor blood oxygen levels. It can replace Xiao AI, the company’s voice assistant with Amazon Alexa in global markets. Finally, we hope that Xiaomi will see a new type of charger with this fitness tracker.
